“The camp has exceeded my expectations and was one of my best ski experiences.
For me everything came together just right–the ski guides, the snow, the group and
the Lodge.” — Jim L. 2010

Alta Performance Ski Camp at Alta Lodge is for advanced to expert skiers who want to take their skiing to a new level. This 4-night, 3-day camp, led by coaches Stephen Helfenbein and Collin Bywaters will improve your skiing; but it is about more than that. It will enhance your understanding of the sport you love and make that connection even stronger.

“The coaching was excellent. But beyond that, part of the camp experience is the opportunity to interact with the coaches, Stephen and Collin, and the camaraderie of the other participants.” –M. Brown, 2010

Your coaches from Alta’s Alf Engen Ski School specialize in creating a unique experience that explores specific attributes of great skiing and expert technique. They will help you feel what it’s like to get more performance out of your skis. The camp takes a progressive approach off the hill as well, with presentations on ski specific fitness (in addition to coaching, Collin Bywaters, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, researches, develops and implements recommendations for ski specific conditioning), video study and everything else that goes into skiing expertly.

The coaches have developed a 3-day progression that builds all-mountain confidence and versatility. The camp is designed for skiers with high goals which include:

•    Reading the terrain and conditions for ideal line selection
•    Skiing an entire line without interruption
•    Learning how to use your skis in different snow conditions
•    Using turn shape to attack the hill while maintaining speed control
•    Recognizing your skiing strengths and specific improvements

Coaching will be in a 1:5 group ratio, with guided skiing on expert terrain at Alta. A specific skiing focus will be previewed each day, you’ll practice some drills that will train your focus, then practice, practice, practice (aka ski a lot!). Also included are ski specific training recommendations, video analysis, and brief morning indoor tech talks.

The four-night, three-day camp includes:

  • lodging with full breakfast and four-course dinner daily (lunch is additional)
  • three days ski coaching
  • dry land training sessions
  • three days Alta lift passes
  • high end demo skis; boots available if needed
  • yoga class (optional)
