These trails are easily accessed from nearby Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. The convenient location offers respite from city life to locals who take the opportunity to hike before or after work. If going out on a weekend, an early start will put you ahead of most hikers during the cooler time of day. Week days tend to be more quiet on the trail.
As soon as the snow melts at the end of May and first part of June, flowers begin to emerge alongside the trails and soon meadows flourish with color.
Take advantage of the beautiful summer season in the mountains, even if it's just an afternoon drive. For information on recreating activities in the local area, visit the Salt Lake Ranger District's web page.
