Presidents' weekend was a bonus weekend for skiers this year. A two-day storm brought in more snow than expected with a 40-inch storm total. From all accounts, the skiing was epic. The total base depth at Alta is now 148-inches -- over 12 feet of snow! We still have over two more months of skiing ahead of us so you still have time to get in a ski trip to Alta this season.
Our friends at Backcountry Magazine stayed with us for a few night in January. They experienced some great backcountry skiing while they were here and have shared some images on their web site.
If you want to give backcountry skiing or snowboarding a try, we have 3-day/4-night clinic this spring that is a great introduction course.

Backcountry Skiing & Snowboarding
Alta Lodge is a great launch pad for backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Unfamiliar with the Wasatch Mountains backcountry? Relax. We make it easy for newcomers to the sport. If you enjoy hiking and can ski or snowboard off the groomed slopes, you're set to try the backcountry with a three-day guided clinic with Utah Mountain Adventures. Guide Winslow Passey has a great description and video on her blog. No equipment? No problem. Rental equipment is available for participants. More information and details are on our web site.
